Oh, the lovely, letter L! We had quite a bit of fun coming up with activities for this week because there were a lot to choose from...again.
Let's start with "L is for Ladybug!"
Not only do we have this cute little craft (in color or black and white for those who wish to color their own), but we also have a fun little ladybug puzzle craft to practice those cutting, pasting and puzzle discovery skills!
The schtick for the L sound in our L packet is based on our little story we tell the kiddos that Glimmercat licked a cold lamppost and got her tongue stuck to it. Now, hopefully, they know that they should never lick a cold lamppost.
We offer plenty of writing pages in our packet, to give that Letter L (which is an easier letter as letters go), plenty of practice.
And if you glance down at the lesson plan that goes along with the "Lion Day", you will see we also have a "Lion Dot to Dot" page.
After having a day for the lions, it just seemed fair to have a day for the "Lamb" as well.
The kids begin with a shorn lamb that has a bright green top to it's head (to show them where to put the Q-tip ends), and a purple body (to show them where to put the cotton balls). Another fun and rewarding craft, since it comes together so cute at the end!
For Reading Literacy on this letter, I decided to do the book, "We're Going on a Leaf Hunt" by Steve Metzger. My kids love this take on "We're Going on a Bear Hunt", and the pictures are so fun and engaging and obviously autumnal.
To go along with it, we created our own little scavenger hunt page that the kids could do after we read the story.
This was a perfect activity for children. Most of the items (a spider web, a leaf, a dandelion, an ant, and a rock and pinecone) are items that you might find on any small walk.
This packet, so full of delightful crafts and activities, and even a scripted set of lesson plans, should be perfect for any child who is ready to be introduced to their letters.
